Me Anas Qiabi has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 2018. He has sat as an arbitrator since 2021: first as an arbitrator of lawyers' accounts for the Barreau du Québec, as sole arbitrator or as a member of a three-arbitrator panel, a term renewed to 2028. The Barreau du Québec then accredited him as an arbitrator in civil and commercial arbitration on 1 March 2024. He is also an accredited arbitrator with the Centre canadien d'arbitrage commercial (CCAC), the Société pour la résolution des conflits inc. (SORECONI) and the Institut de médiation et d'arbitrage du Québec (IMAQ). In that capacity he has rendered awards, including under the regulatory framework of the guarantee plan for new residential buildings, where the arbitrator is designated by the arbitration organization. In every file conducted as sole arbitrator to date, the award has been rendered within thirty (30) days or less of the close of the hearing.
Me Qiabi also practises civil and commercial litigation at Gattuso Bouchard Mazzone LLP, mainly in construction and real estate. In that practice he has acted for real estate developers, general contractors, subcontractors, ultimate owners and syndicates of co-owners: every position in the construction chain rather than only one of them. He therefore knows the same disputes as they look from each side.
He accepts arbitration mandates in his personal capacity, independently of the firm. The conflict check carried out before any appointment nevertheless covers the firm's files, and any circumstance that could raise a doubt as to his impartiality or independence is disclosed in writing to all parties.

Disputes between owners, general contractors, subcontractors and professionals: defective work, delays, cost overruns, payment claims and construction legal hypothecs.

General civil disputes, including applications for provisional or safeguard measures made in the course of an arbitration.
Contractual Disputes
Interpretation and enforcement of contracts, breach of contract claims, and disputes arising from commercial and civil agreements.
Commercial Litigation
Business disputes including shareholder conflicts, corporate governance issues, and commercial contract enforcement.
Bankruptcy and Insolvency
Arbitrable claims arising in an insolvency context, in particular those founded on a contract containing an arbitration clause, subject to the jurisdiction of the bankruptcy courts.
Real Estate
Latent defects, hypothecs and priorities, and disputes over immovable property.
Co-ownership Disputes
Disputes within condominium syndicates, between co-owners, and between syndicates and developers or contractors.
Commercial Leasing
Disputes between landlords and commercial tenants, including lease interpretation, rent arrears, and eviction matters.
Guarantee Plan
Disputes under the guarantee plan for new residential buildings. Me Qiabi has rendered awards in this field as an accredited arbitrator with the CCAC and SORECONI. In these files the arbitrator is designated by the arbitration organization and not by the parties: such mandates cannot be solicited or entrusted directly.
